Communications Role

As a Communications Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in making our charity more visible to clients and partners. You’ll use social media and write press releases to help spread the word and create fundraising opportunities. Your strong speaking and writing skills will be important for sharing information with our followers, connecting with possible donors, and creating convincing messages. Your attention to detail, computer skills, and ability to work on your own will help make our campaigns and events successful.

You will report to Office Manager (Social Media) and Chief Officer (Fundraising).

• Social Media Posts: Use information from National Citizens Advice to create posts for our social media that clearly share our messages with clients.
• Connect with Supporters: Reach out to potential supporters and new fundraisers, and build strong relationships in our community.
• Promote Donations: Create and share text and online campaigns to encourage people to donate.
• Manage Supporter Information: Keep our list of supporters accurate and current.
• Support Community Efforts: Work with "Friends of Citizens Advice Oxford" to boost local support for our charity.
• Distribute Materials: Help share supporter materials and marketing content, including updates on social media.
• Assist with Funding Applications: Help the funding team by drafting and improving funding applications.
• Plan and Support Events: Help plan and support our events and those organized by our partners.
• Create Publicity Materials: Develop interesting content for fundraising campaigns.

• Understand Social Justice: Learn about social justice issues and how Citizens Advice services help make a difference.
• Fundraising and Event Planning: Gain practical experience in fundraising and organizing events.
• Boost Communication Skills: Improve your ability to engage with supporters and build confidence in your communication.
• Develop Interpersonal and Research Skills: Enhance your skills in interacting with others and conducting research.
• Receive Support: Get guidance to help you achieve your personal goals.
• Office Experience: Gain experience using databases and working in an office environment.

This role is flexible, and we only ask for a few hours of your time each week. You can work from our central Oxford office or remotely.
