Volunteer Training

Our training program makes sure that our volunteers stay updated on any new laws or policies from the government and learn to use the latest technologies. This helps volunteers fully develop their skills and potential.

Most volunteers start as Advice Assistants and go through an initial 4-week induction training program. This includes weekly in-person group sessions with other Advice Assistants, along with some online self-learning modules in between. After gaining experience as an Advice Assistant, volunteers can choose to do more training to become an Adviser.

We offer training programs to become an Advice Assistant every other month, so contact us today to get started with your application.

Volunteer Information sessions

We will be running Volunteer Information sessions on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 18th September
  • Tuesday 19th November
  • Tuesday 17 December

These are online, interactive sessions lasting 1.5 hours. They explain the purpose and activities of CAO, what being a volunteer involves, and information on training and support.

"I was unsure at first whether I would be able to advise on such a wide range of subjects, but the training I received was first class, and there is plenty of support from experienced advisers and staff. I now find it incredibly rewarding to help people, especially those who are in desperate need."
